A Virtual New Year!

Welcome back! While we still are not able to meet in person, our ability to connect and share our love of samplers is thriving! Over the past several months, S.G.R. has been able to utilize the digital platform known as Zoom to proceed with holding Seminar with Beth Twist of Heartstring Samplery, our Silent Auction, and the summer Board meetings. While there has definitely been a learning curve, I think we have done well turning lemons into lemonade. With our digital platform success, and the continuing pandemic, S.G.R. will commence this year by conducting our monthly meetings at least until December virtually. Monthly meetings will be held on the same date and at the same time as our in-person meetings would have been. There is no change to our meeting schedule. With each monthly newsletter, a link for our Zoom meeting will be sent. If anyone has any questions about this, please just contact someone on the Board who will be glad to help you. Our various groups like, Unfinished Objects (UFO), Challenge Projects, etc., will also continue this year. Those groups will have their own special Zoom meeting, in addition to the monthly general meeting. This should make for added fun and support for members who (like several of us on the Board) are feeling a bit disconnected from everyone. Katrina also has created our first S.G.R. book club! I am sure you can tell a lot of thought and planning went into this year’s Program plan. Katrina really focused on how to help all of us stay connected and not feel isolated. We hope you see a project, a book, or have an unfinished project that compels you to sign up and participate in one or more of these virtual groups! Lastly, you will notice that our Stash Sale and Silent Auction have been switched around this year. The Board realizes that the Stash Sale cannot be held via Zoom. We just have way too much stuff to sell. So, by switching the Sale to March, we are hopeful that we will be able to meet in person by then. I know this year continues to be difficult at best, but S.G.R. and its many members continue to rise to the challenge! Thank you to all of you for continuing to ride the wave and find ways to make lemonade out of life’s lemons!

TTFN,
