Changes

I anticipated preparing a springtime, after market type of article, but that has changed. I’m sure I’m not alone in being taken aback by the COVID-19 virus and its impact on the most basic aspects of our everyday lives. I have caught myself wishing my great parents were still here to give me some sage advice, having lived through the Great Depression and World War Two. For me, this is very uncharted territory.

The SGR Board has been hard at work collaborating on cancelling and rescheduling our remaining activities for this year. Our April meeting is cancelled. The spring Seminar is postponed until June 12th & 13th. Retreat will be combined with the Stitching Day on August 8th. The Board has not yet made a decision regarding our May meeting. Please watch your email inbox for a decision by April 10th.

On a more positive note, our Community Food Drive was a great success! We collected 206 cans of food for the church’s pantry! What a wonderful effort! Thank you to all of those who donated.

Until we are able to once again gather together, know that we are still joined by our shared love of needlework. Isolation doesn’t mean isolated. The joy and laughter and inspiring needlework can continue to be shared via phone call, email, FaceTime, FaceBook and the like. Let’s utilize technology to help get through this.

Finally, I have enjoyed looking back through Guild photographs to find the ones included in this newsletter and remembering the happiness and laughter of meetings past. I am grateful for each of you and our shared love of samplers.

Until next time, Happy Stitching and Be Well!
