Welcome back! It is always exciting when a new SGR year begins, but this year is going to be really special! Sampler Guild of the Rockies is celebrating its thirtieth anniversary and we aim to make it a glittering affair! Rather than have one big party in May, we plan to celebrate all year long with many special treats! This year’s events have been nearly two years in the planning, and we are certain you will enjoy the fruits of all that hard work. Several designers have generously made contributions to our celebratory year thus providing SGR members with some beautiful mementos!
While we are able to meet in person, our success in utilizing the digital platform, Zoom, has given our Guild an added method to reaching members and ensuring our ability to consistently hold meetings. Come what may (traffic, snowstorms, pandemics, etc..)! We continue to grow and diversify as a group, with nearly 50% of our total members now coming from out of state. SGR is literally coast to coast and doubled in size since 2017!
Guild will hold monthly meetings utilizing a blended format. Monthly meetings will be held in person as well as via Zoom. Meetings will be held on the same date and at the same time as our in-person meetings. There is no change to our meeting schedule. With each monthly newsletter, a link for our Zoom meeting will be sent. If anyone has any questions about this, please just contact someone on the Board who will be glad to help you.
Sampler Guild offers specialized small groups like, Unfinished Objects (UFO), Challenge Projects, and a monthly Book Club. Those groups have their own special Zoom meetings with separate links being provided, just remember to sign up!
Doris and Billie, our fantastic Program team, have a wonderful theme for this year that builds upon the program from last year. They are taking “The Pocket” to the next level! Kim and Katrina, our dynamic duo of all things book club, have chosen some great titles for this year’s reading enjoyment! The list of books for this year’s Book Club is on our website and our FaceBook page, as well as in this newsletter so don’t miss out on the fun!
Finally, I want to share some information that might help for planning purposes. We will have our annual Christmas Tea in December along with a wonderful new ornament design from our own Janice Wood. April means it’s Seminar time with Jeannette Douglas Designs onboard! Plans are in place for our 30th Birthday Celebration in May. It will be held at the gorgeous Roxborough Community Center! Lunch and a final special gift will be in store. So, to all returning members I say, “Welcome Back” we are glad to have you! To all new members I say, “Welcome, we are so glad you found us”.
Until next time,
